Our first few weeks back outside have been going well. We are meeting lots of new people who wouldn’t have seen us in the building. And we are really enjoying having more time to spend with our son before he goes to school. Please remember that we are only there from Friday to Sunday, and we can’t come out in the rain. Hope we see you soon!
Over the past year, we’ve been through a lot. We lost our mother and founder and partner. We had a baby. Keeping up with the needs of the store has become a burden. The venture had started with four people, and now we are down to two. So we have decided that it is time to start anew. Well, really, we’re going back to our roots. We are going back to being outdoor vendors. From now on, we will be selling outside of Pete’s Park N Eat. Right outside of where our store was. We will be there Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday Mondays, from 12 noon. (or hopefully earlier) until dark. The other days of the week will be spent dutifully making tie-dyes for your viewing and wearing pleasure, and spending more time with our beautiful children. We’ll see you on the weekends. Just not if it rains! 😉

Visitors to the Milky Wave Tie Dye store may notice that a large map of the United States of America hangs on the wall near the door. There is a shelf under the map that has, among other well-loved items, a container of push-pins. Customers are encouraged to grab a push-pin and insert a pin into the map that shows where they live.
Hundreds of push pins adorn the map. These push pins are more than just push pins to us – they represent the hundreds of customers that have blessed us with their company, their friendship, and their business.
We feel truly blessed to have such a large community of customers around the country. We almost find ourselves wishing that the map was of the entire world – it would be very interesting to see how many customers come/came into the retail outlet that live overseas! We just don’t know where we can find room in the store for such a large map, so for now the United States map will have to do.
A sweet little sign made by Niko in a summer art camp with our friends at Earth Glaze & Fire in Warrenton. Thanks Nadia, Kathleen and Jo!
Chris McElaney honored us by filming a documentary about our store. Thank you Chris, we love how you captured our spirit and our love for tie dye, our love for each other and our friends, and our love of life.
Yesterday we hosted a memorial and celebration of life for our mother, Helen Gist-Tselikidis. We were blessed to see so many of our Milky Wave family and food friends able to attend.
Thank you Debra Shuman and Denise Shuman Smith for sharing this wonderful recent photo of the three of you in our store.
Our mother and our company founder left this world suddenly and we miss her every day. She left us with a wonderful legacy and her special talent for unique tie dye designs lives on.
